Telia signs blanket agreement for continued expansion of broadband access Telia Carrier & Networks has signed a blanket agreement with Nokia and Alcatel on deliveries of ADSL equipment for the continued expansion of broadband access to Swedish residential customers. Alcatel and Nokia will deliver network equipment and terminals. The one-year agreements are estimated at a total of MSEK 750, and fall within previous investment decisions. The main impetus behind the investment is the demand for ADSL access from tenants, co-operative building societies and house-owners. - There is a great demand for broadband access througout the country, and these agreements will enable us to meet the high market expectations, says Ingmar Jonsson, responsible for the broadband programme of Telia Carrier & Networks. Telia now has a list of 25 high-priority cities in the country, first to obtain ADSL-base broadband services. The cities are Borås, Falun, Gävle, Göteborg, Halmstad, Helsingborg, Jönköping/Huskvarna, Kalmar, Karlskrona, Karlstad, Kristianstad, Linköping, Luleå, Piteå, Umeå, Lund, Malmö, Norrköping, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Uddevalla, Växjö, Trollhättan, Södertälje and Stockholm. Depending on the demand, more towns and cities may be entered on the list.
