Telia to upgrade SUNET's IP network Telia has received an order for upgrading SUNET's university network. It is an IP network with access points in 27 cities and towns across the country, and will be upgraded from 155 Mbit to 10 Gbit. The work will start in early 2002 and is estimated to be completed in October 2002. The order is estimated to be worth about 175 million SEK during a 4 year period. - SUNET and the university community represents an important customer, says Henrik Forssell, sales manager at Telia's network company Skanova. To win this prestigious job in fierce competition proves that we come up to their stringent demands. - Telia was the supplier which met our requirements in the best way and which could also offer the lowest total cost based on our criteria of evaluation, says Hans Wallberg, in charge of the order at SUNET. In our opinion, Telia has all the necessary qualifications to deliver the infrastructure needed to build the sophisticated IP network which is to meet for several years the ever growing needs of Swedish universities and colleges for communication capacity.
