Marconi enhances softswitch end-user experience with Teligent voice mail solutions Strategic partnership will develop SIP-enabled applications on Teligent Messaging System for Marconi SoftSwitch Marconi Corporation plc announced today that its has signed a new strategic partnership agreement with Teligent that will enhance the experience of end-users of its SoftSwitch platform. Under the terms of the agreement, the Teligent Messaging System (TMS) will provide voicemail and unified messaging services for Marconi's SoftSwitch. The partnership is part of Marconi's SIP strategy announced at VON event in London earlier this year. The new partnership agreement covers interworking between the Teligent P90/E TMS suite of messaging applications and the Marconi SoftSwitch. The TMS will provide SoftSwitch subscribers with voicemail, IP-based Intelligent Voice Recognition (IVR) and advanced voice processing applications, such as text-to-speech and speech recognition. The TMS-SoftSwitch solution will allow users to download or stream voice, fax, text (SMS and email) as well as video and multimedia (MMS) messages to devices such as IP phones, PCs and video-enabled IP phones. The TMS will also provide the SoftSwitch with features that will allow users to retrieve their voicemails from websites or PC programs and access their email via text-to-speech over the phone. In addition, the combined SoftSwitch and TMS will provide users with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) client to give a single, converged view of all message types. - The Teligent platform is truly carrier grade and complements the Marconi SoftSwitch. It is used to enhance user experience by graphical interface that permits, for example, point-n-click for call management or integrating interactive text messaging as part of the session. Once the SIP network infrastructure is in place, it will allow fast introduction of advanced services via intelligent endpoints and collaborating servers without further changes to it. To date, most SIP implementations have been focused primarily on the enterprise sector. Marconi's carrier-class SoftSwitch provides operators with a platform for mass deployment of such SIP services in the public network for both enterprise and residential use. ------------------------------------------------------------ This information was brought to you by Waymaker http://www.waymaker.net The following files are available for download: http://www.waymaker.net/bitonline/2004/10/13/20041013BIT00200/wkr0001.pdf
