Deployment of Next Generation Service Architecture and IP Telephony Services

Teligent announces today a strategic order within the recently released substantial frame agreement with a leading communications group in the Asia Pacific region. The new order, included in the orders received reported for the second quarter 2005, concerns IP telephony platforms for a mobile network. This will allow the unnamed communications group to deploy a Next Generation Service Architecture based on multiple Teligent P90/E platforms. Next Generation Service Architecture is in-line with IMS (IP Multimedia Sub-System defined by 3GPP) which provides a centralised service architecture that may host application for fixed, mobile as well as IP based (NGN) customers. During 2004 Teligent achieved a breakthrough in the Southeast Asian market and signed agreements with some of the major carriers in the region. The region is of strategic importance for Teligent and is currently in substantial expansion. “Together with the frame agreement announced in April, this order emphasizes that we will have a long-term relationship with also this leading communications group. Our reference list in the region is starting to look impressive”, says Ulf Lindstén, President & CEO of Teligent. “This is yet another confirmation of that our technology is state-of-the-art and that Teligent is an attractive supplier to the tier one telecom operators. Of course, it is really encouraging how we have been able to use our broad experience in order to help a well-renowned operator to build and design their future service and NGN architecture.” “I think this business really proves that we are in a leading position regarding the convergence and the evolution of Next Generation Service Architecture. To be a leading and successful operator you must be able to react quickly to technical and commercial changes on the market and that is a main reason why our technology is so much appreciated” says Mikael Jigmo, President Asia Pacific of Teligent. The patented middleware platform, Teligent P90/E, separates network signalling, service execution and presentation to end-users. It is implemented in various configurations by a large number of leading carriers in the international telecommunications market, including BT, MCI, Telefónica, Telia, Tele2 and the Vodafone group.
