Teligent's largest order ever Teligent announces today that they have received a record order from tesion GmbH of Germany, a carrier owned by Swisscom and the energy company EnBW. The 1 order primarily involves IN platforms but also other services platforms based on Teligent's P90/E middleware operative system. The initial value of the order is approximately SEK 50 million and it is, therefore, the single largest order in the history of Teligent. Teligent's German subsidiary, Teligent GmbH, has, with this order, definitely left its initial establishment phase. - Previous business in Germany positioned Teligent in the German market and this order from tesion confirms that we have, in deed, laid claim to that position, says Krister Skålberg, CEO of Teligent AB. He further notes that the German subsidiary can now be ranked alongside Teligent's English and Spanish subsidiaries in terms of sales successes. - We have noticed an increased interest in IN platforms, continues Krister Skålberg. Earlier it was primarily the really large carriers who requested such solutions. The competition, which followed after deregulation, together 2 with the demand for number portability , has now increased requirements also from the smaller and relatively new carriers and service providers. tesion was launched commercially in the beginning of 1998 in the then newly deregulated German market. The company is based in Stuttgart and is owned by Swisscom of Switzerland and the German energy company Energie Baden- Württemberg AG (EnBW). tesion combines a modern optic fibre network with Swisscom's competence and experience within telecom and data communications. The company plays a key role in Swisscom's international ambitions, with a focus on the adjacent markets of Germany, France, Italy and Austria. - It is especially pleasing that Teligent once again sells to the Swisscom group, as Swisscom has very clearly emphasised its goal of becoming a leading player within the area of advanced value-added services, says Krister Skålberg. We therefore see Swisscom as a strategically important client. On the basis of our local presence we can also match their geographical expansion and I deem the premises for extended co-operation as promising. 1 IN - Intelligent Networks. Modular networks that enable fast and cost effective upgrading of a carrier's offering of services. IN provides, amongst other things, significantly improved prerequisites for the development and customisation of services as well as freedom from the lockup effects concerning hardware which burden traditional networks. With an IN platform the connection is separated from the service logic, which provides cost effective operations. 2 Number portability. The end-user shall, according to EU-rules, be able to change carrier without having to change his/her telephone number.
