A First For Disabled Designers and Models
Fashion show with disabled and non-disabled models And designers
Tonight the fashion floor is breaking boundaries and pushing away perceptions on perfection.
Fashion with Passion is the ground-breaking, first ever fashion show to include disabled and non-disabled designers and models.
The showcase will reveal current A/W 10 collections from Amelia Ursache (head designers at WheelieChix – Chic), Laura Fox, John Smedley and ASOS. The event will take place at The Taste Restaurant in Hammersmith this evening.
The project is the brain child of Hammersmith and Fulham Action on Disability (HAFAD).
Amelia Ursache hails from Sweden and was titled ELLE’s Designer of the Year in 1998. Based in Richmond, her designs are constructed from fabulous fabrics and are floral, feminine and flowing – the perfect fraternity for any female.
Further feminine charms and touches will be added by upcoming designer Laura Fox, whose previous collections have been presented at London’s Alternative Fashion Week and been featured in Drapers.
John Smedley’s latest A/W 10 collection will be providing a little winter warmth with simple, structured tactile textures. The knitwear is tailored to a silhouette with shape and with clients including Vivienne Westwood and Agent Provocateur; these pieces are meant to be worn with personality.
ASOS will be bringing the best of British from cable to chunky knits and camel capes to casual cardigans.
Disabled television stars David Proud (Eastenders) and Kelly Marie Stewart (Hollyoaks) will be modeling in the show alongside Britain’s Missing Top Model judge Lara Masters.
It seems that the rigid ways of the elite Fashion house seem to finally be folding.
