Electricity production at Olkiluoto 3 continues today

Electricity production at Olkiluoto 3 was interrupted today November 29th at 13:35 due to a local fault test. Production is intended to resume later within this day.

The local fault test caused a network disturbance, which triggered the protective functions of Olkiluoto 3, leading to an automatic halt in production. A more detailed analysis of the event will be available later.

The incident had no impact on nuclear safety.

Of the three reactors at Olkiluoto, two have continued their electricity production normally. Currently Olkiluoto is generating over 1780 MW for the national grid.

Teollisuuden Voima Oyj has produced electricity for its shareholders, Finnish industrial and energy companies, safely and reliably for over 40 years. Nuclear electricity generated at TVO's Olkiluoto plant covers approximately 30 percent of Finland’s electricity demand once Olkiluoto 3’s regular electricity production has started. Climate-friendly nuclear electricity not only benefits society but also reduces the environmental impact of energy production. Moreover, the world's first final disposal facility for spent nuclear fuel is under construction in Olkiluoto.
