Interview and lecture with Eklund Foundation recipient
The Eklund Foundation for Odontological Research and Education distributed funds of approximately EUR 200,000 this year. Listen to a presentation and watch an interview with Marie Nordström, one of the grantees.
The research project “Salutogenesis against the odds – resilience factors among adolescents” which is conducted by DDS and PhD Stud. Marie Nordström at Malmö Dental School received EUR 160,000 from Eklund Foundation in 2020.
The motivation reads: "An innovative approach with a focus on salutogenesis among adolescents in socioeconomic vulnerable populations. This study focusing on health sustaining factors as well as the underlying resilience factors may provide essential information for future health promotion work in favour of not only oral health, but also general health."
Marie Nordström said, "We're still not able to reduce health inequalities, and normally, we ask what creates disease, b ut if we instead ask what creates health, perhaps we can shift the focus and achieve sustainable results, and also achieve results in general health."
TePe visited Marie Nordström and her supervisor Associate Professor Gunnel Hänsel Petersson at Malmö University Dental School to learn more about the research project. Watch the interview attached, as well as the video where Marie Nordström presents her project “Salutogenesis against the odds – resilience factors among adolescents”.
