The 2017 Eklund Foundation Scholarship is awarded to Jenny Kallunki, Specialist in Orthodontics, for her research on treatment of children with large overbite.

The scholarship of approximately EUR 15,000 was delivered at the Malmö University Annual Ceremony by Joel Eklund, Chairman of the Eklund Foundation and CEO of TePe Munhygienprodukter AB.

– Very encouraging! It will contribute to giving the project legitimacy from the outside, and facilitate all the work surrounding it, such as hiring statisticians and translators, says Jenny Kallunki about the scholarship.

Jenny Kallunki combines her research with her work as an orthodontist in Norrköping, Sweden. Her study will examine the difference between early and late orthodontic treatment in children with large overbite. Besides investigating the effectiveness and results of the treatment, she also considers how the patients themselves experience their treatment and their quality of life. The study will run for several years, supervised by Professor Lars Bondemark at the Faculty of Odontology at Malmö University, Sweden.

The scholarship was instituted to promote odontological research with a focus on oral health at the Faculty of Odontology at Malmö University, and has been distributed since 2000, previously by TePe, but since 2017 by Eklund Foundation.
