Long-term focus on health and the environment in TePe’s Sustainability Report for 2022
TePe, the leading Swedish oral health brand, announces its sustainability report for 2022. The report showcases TePe's initiatives aimed at promoting long-term positive change for the well-being of individuals and the environment.
“We acknowledge the challenges the world is facing and are committed to taking action through continuous efforts to stimulate good health and well-being, promote circular practices, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions”, says Julia Lönnegren, Sustainability Manager, TePe.
Selected highlights from TePe Sustainability Report 2022
- Phasing out fossil raw materials from production has resulted in a consecutive launch of biobased products as part of continuous efforts to reduce the carbon footprint. Since 2022, TePe has used materials from renewable sources or renewable mass-balanced materials certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certificate ISCC PLUS for all its toothbrush- and interdental brush handles.
- TePe incorporates more sustainable materials into its packaging with the aim to include renewable/recycled/FSC-certified materials in 100% of packaging for self-produced products in 2025 (74% was reached in 2022).
- TePe strives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote circularity in its operations. The company conducts an annual Life Cycle Assessment for purchased materials regarding self-produced products and packaging.
- TePe continues to use 100% renewable energy in production, supplemented by its own rooftop solar power plant. In 2022, the area was doubled.
- The company emphasises education and knowledge-sharing with dental professionals and academia, offering digital webinars about health and sustainable innovation. TePe endorses Eklund Foundation, which supports odontological research worldwide.
- TePe engages in professional partnerships to stimulate sustainable development and people’s quality of life. In 2022, TePe supported the “Consensus on Environmentally Sustainable Oral Healthcare: A Joint Stakeholder Statement” as one of the founding partners of FDI World Dental Federation’s Sustainability in Dentistry initiative.
“Taking practical action and collaborating with others is crucial in our strategic efforts for long-term sustainable development“, concludes Julia Lönnegren.
