A select few small and medium-sized hospitality companies have found a way to grow, despite the downturn economy.

Vero Beach, FL August 8, 2011 – Can a small business in one of the most volatile industries realistically expect to grow in the worst economic climate in over 70 years? The answer: only a select few. Here’s why:

  • The national unemployment rate consistently hovers above 9%
  • The national debt exceeds $14.6 trillion
  • The above factors have lead to draconian credit lending policies, particularly for small businesses
  • High industry turnover rates

Three companies found a way to work together to achieve growth, despite the economic headwinds -- Maverick’s Bar & Grill, Walla Walla Bread Company and PointOS Professional.

Mike Chavez, small business owner of Maverick’s Bar & Grill in El Paso, Tx., began using PointOS Professional in his business 18 months ago. Beginning with one system at his smallest store, Chavez’s business began to expand, thanks in no small part to the efficiencies that the new software provided him. In the summer of 2010, Chavez opened his fourth location to the public in Arlington, Texas.

“PointOS was half the cost of rival point-of-sale software companies we were considering,” says Chavez. “Because of the price, we were able to easily and efficiently implement PointOS in all of our restaurants.”

“Most of the business owners we cater to simply can’t afford to spend a lot of money for a POS system,” says Daniel Kurland, Owner, PointOS.

Part of what makes the point-of-sale system unique are the free software upgrades, free 24/7 U.S-based technical support center, and features that directly increase the opportunity for repeat customers.

“I have definitely seen an increase in loyalty with the Customer Tracking feature,” says Chavez. “By being able to track their spending habits I can more easily reward my loyal customers and make them feel appreciated. It really helps us round out our philosophy of providing superior customer service.”

Another small business, owned and operated by Rachel Kline, began using PointOS in 2009 prior to opening her business. Walla Walla Bread Company, located in Walla Walla, WA., started as a small bakery and has since grown into a bakery, café,  and a large wholesale business.

“PointOS has been with us every step of the way. Whenever I have a question or need technical support, I use the free 24/7 call center and they quickly resolve whatever issue may arise,” says Kline. “With each new employee I see how much of a gift this system is. The training time to get them comfortable with the software is so short! I am able to concentrate on training my employees in quality customer service and production instead of on the computer.”

PointOS is committed to helping small and medium businesses experience growth, and it is due primarily to the following strengths:

  • Easy-to-use interface, thus reducing training time and lowering labor costs
  • Free domestic, 24/7 call center with full tech support
  • Affordability. PointOS on average is half the cost of its competitors
  • Tracking features that allow owner/operators to manage both fixed and variable costs
