Ford Mustang edges out Aston- Martin DB7 to scoop award, while VW Beetle takes the title of ‘world’s most feminine motor’

The Ford Mustang has been voted the world’s manliest car, in a new survey by leading men’s grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge.

The iconic US vehicle picked up a whooping 21% of the public vote, with the Aston- Martin DB7 second on 15% and the Range Rover third on 13%.

At the other end of the ‘manliness motoring scale’, the VW Beetle was named the least manly car on the planet, followed by the Mazda Miata MX5 and the Ford KA.

Nick Gibbens, spokesperson for The Bluebeards Revenge, said: “The Mustang is certainly what you would describe as a ‘real mans car’ and is a deserving winner of the title ‘world’s manliest car’.

“Our brand is marketed as the world’s manliest grooming range as it’s designed for men with tough stubble. We would like to think that we stand for everything that is masculine in today’s society, which was why we set out to crown planet Earth’s most manly car.”

Other cars in the “manly” top 15 include the Dodge Viper, BMW X5, Dodge Ram, Hummer H1 and the Porsche 911.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Prius, Nissan Cube, Fiat Barchetta and the Honda Jazz all finished in the feminine top 10.

First introduced to the US market in April 1964, the Mustang has picked up a number of awards and accolades.

The 1965 Mustang won the Tiffany Gold Medal for excellence in American design, the first motor ever to do so.

The Mustang was on the Car and Driver Ten Best list in 1983, 1987, 1988, 2005, 2006, and 2011. It also won the Motor Trend Car of the Year award in 1974 and 1994.

It can now add the coveted title of the “world’s manliest car” to its illustrious portfolio.

The Bluebeards Revenge, a shaving range that can actually reduce stubble by up to 40% over a 60-day period, surveyed 1,835 people in the UK via email the first week of August 2011.
