Bardwell Manor Equestrian Centre in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk has become the latest centre to join The British Horse Society’s Horses Welcome Scheme.

Horses Welcome is theUK's first quality-assured scheme for equine bed and breakfast accommodation. It started in the south ofScotlandin 2006, and since then has grown to include facilities throughout theUK.

Becoming a member of the scheme demonstrates an establishment’s commitment to providing a genuine “home away from home” for horses.

The BHS visits all Horses Welcome premises to ensure that the stabling, grazing and other facilities are of a suitable standard for visiting horses. The Society will only endorse accommodation where inspectors would be happy to take their own horse, so the scheme can be promoted with confidence.

Sharon Dawson of Bardwell Manor Equestrian Centre said: “We are so pleased to be offering holidays with horses and to join the Horses Welcome scheme. European funding has allowed us to put in new fencing and a new shower room so our facilities are top class. The newly reopened 'Stanton Rides' offer up to 28 miles of riding through the Suffolk/Norfolk countryside and villages, which we are sure people will enjoy.”
