BHS welcomes end to gas storage plans

The British Horse Society welcomes Star Energy’s decision to abandon its plans to develop gas storage facilities in the Albury area.

The British Horse Society campaigned with other organisations against the planning application, which would have had a serious negative effect on riding in the area.

The success of the campaign demonstrates that by working with other like-minded objectors equestrian issues can contribute to successfully defeating planning applications.

BHS County Access and Bridleways Officer forSurrey, Avril Sleeman, said: “If this development had proceeded it would have severely affected the quality of riding in the area and effectively made some areas no – go.”
