Cindy Belcher Leads Management Changes at Cooperative of American Physicians
November 30, 2012 LOS ANGELES – – Cindy Belcher has been promoted to senior vice president of Corporate Strategy & Strategic Development at the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP), and John Raleigh has been hired by CAP as the vice president of Membership.
The management changes are part of an executive re-alignment at CAP following the death on November 19 of Peter Kezirian, who handled the business strategy responsibilities that Belcher will now assume.
At the December board meeting of the Cooperative of American Physicians Insurance Company, Inc., a risk retention group, Belcher is also expected to be confirmed as CAPIC-RRG’s chief operating officer.
Reporting to Belcher will be Timothy Foley, CAPIC-RRG’s chief underwriting officer; Andrea Linder, vice president CAP Business Development; Raleigh; and William West, vice president Membership Development. Howard Auger, president of the CAP Physicians Insurance Agency, will now report directly to James L. Weidner, CAP’s chief executive officer.
Since 2007, Belcher has directed all membership-related matters at CAP, including membership services, membership development and retention, underwriting, and membership review as senior vice president of Membership. She started at CAP in 1999 as director of marketing/customer relationship manager. In 2002, Belcher served as vice president of membership services until her promotion to senior vice president of Membership.
Raleigh, who has been a consultant to CAP since 2011, is a long-time health care and insurance executive and has served as an executive vice president and vice president and chief financial officer at the Illinois Hospital Association.
“Cindy is a team player who has tremendous insight into the needs of physicians and medical groups,” says Weidner of Belcher’s promotion. “And bringing in John Raleigh gives CAP added strengths as we fine-tune services in an ever-changing environment in the way that medical care is delivered.”
