Next-generation platform brings unprecedented real-time information connectivity, sharing and interoperability

Brooklyn, NY – Flow™Corporation has launched early access to the world’s first real-time data exchange for application developers, enterprises and consumers, heralding a new era of real-time data sharing, content curation and on-demand stream processing. The company recently closed Series A financing, having raised a total of $3 million in funding from investors including Cloud Capital Partners, BH Ventures, Birnberg Group and Kappa East.

The groundbreaking real-time data platform is available as a PaaS (Platform as a Service) for developers at Flow.net and an off-the-shelf dashboard for consumers and enterprise customers at iFlow.com.

The platform empowers developers with an instant and robust backend for application data, stream processing and data aggregation, which boosts efficiency and lowers costs of implementing real-time data systems for apps. By abstracting the often difficult and expensive integration process, Flow enriches individual apps’ functionality and enables developers to build real-time data-rich applications more easily.

Utilizing the Flow platform, web, mobile and enterprise applications are for the first time capable of connecting and sharing data with one another on a permissioned basis in real-time, facilitating unprecedented interoperability across the entire app landscape.

A restaurant mobile app, for example, may show food-seekers nearby eateries, but would also draw and present helpful data from other apps on local stores, coupon deals or events.

By building the infrastructure through which apps can intercommunicate and consumers can create and discover information micro-contextually, Flow is breaking down data silos and revolutionizing the way businesses and people make use of real-time data.

“Connecting apps socially was an important first step in the data revolution, connecting apps on a more fundamental data level is what’s next,” said Flow Founder and CEO Eric Alterman. “We aim to be the underlying plumbing for this new frontier of application connectivity, providing developers a seamless way to connect their apps with real-time data from many other apps, analogous to what a stock exchange does for trading.”

For consumers and enterprise users, iFlow.com provides a portal into this next-generation real-time information exchange and empowers its users to seamlessly discover, create, curate and share real-time information streams on any subject in a filtered, contextual and granularly permissioned manner.

By allowing users to follow ideas instead of individuals, through topic-based streams of information called “flows,” iFlow.com evolves the current paradigm of social network real-time information streaming to include rich data from a variety of sources.

iFlow.com is built entirely using the Flow platform’s APIs and demonstrates the advanced real-time stream processing functionality available to Flow platform developers building mobile and web experiences.

Flow Corporation will additionally provide developers and consumers the opportunity to buy and sell subscriptions of real-time data with the upcoming launch of Flow Market™, which will give content owners the ability to control business rules and monetize all types of data streams, ranging from curated topical flows like product reviews, to proprietary research.

“We believe there is a ‘data graph’ that is just as interesting as the ‘social graph’, but richer from a data perspective and includes the universe of data that goes beyond the social context. It's the future of real time information and big data” said Alterman.
