Crowds come to see the outlandish looks and designs, but to the stylists competing, the Hair Wars is all about business. And, Ann Hughes of J Salon in Glendale is hoping to outshine everyone there!

Top Salons compete down the runway for the title of Supreme Salon.

(Scottsdale, AZ January 10, 2012) – While the audience comes to watch stylists from 10 hair salons from across the Valley go head-to-head at the 12th annual Hair Wars Supreme Salon Tour competition at the W Scottsdale, Ann Hughes and the entire stylist team from J Salon in Glendale are busy creating hair magic.

Host Ben Mollin, finalist of BRAVO’s Shear Genius, will introduce creative talent from such salons including HAIR by Luis A. Solis, Rochelle’s Salon & Spa, Simply Ravishing, The Salon, Blu Sol Salon and Spa, SalonXtian, and J Salon in Glendale.

Ann Hughes of J Salon, says that competing in Hair Wars Supreme Salon Tour means she has reached a pinnacle in her hair career.

“Being a part of Hair Wars makes me feel that I am creative enough to have been asked to participate,” Hughes says. “I believe being in the competition can only take my business to the next level.”

The competition is a lot about the media coverage the salons can garner and Hughes agrees.

“The media coverage is going to be amazing and that can only boost business.  It has already opened several doors for me that I never would have been had I not been involved with Hair Wars,” added Hughes.

Hughes says she found out about the competition from a colleague last year.

“I went to the 2010 Hair Wars not having any idea what the event was or what to expect. Having it held at The W Scottsdale was pretty ‘Hollywood-ish’ in look and feel which added to the excitement of the evening. But once the show started, I was in awe at the creativeness, the wildness and edgy designs. I KNEW it was something I wanted to do,” said Hughes.

Benjamin Moline, Marketing and Entertainment Director for Windy City Media, producer of the event, explains the competition.

“The Supreme Salon Tour travels through Scottsdale, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Calgary, Canada searching for top salons that display superb creativity and style within their region,” Moline states. “The top three salons will advance to Las Vegas for the chance to win the Supreme Salon title and a cash prize. If the J Salon team is one of the three winners in Scottsdale they would move onto the Worlds.”

Each salon will feature its own theme, routines and distinctive hairstyles, which best represent their artistic abilities – think hair zombies and animals galore – to compete for the coveted national title of Supreme Salon.

Hughes says that their Theme was selected from a list gathered from some of the creative J Salon team.

“Our creative team came together with stylists from inside J Salon, plus outside help of body painters and makeup artists.  I must say I am amazed at what we each of us have come up with and accomplished. I feel like J Salon has a good chance at winning this and advancing to the national – even the World Competition,” said Hughes.

Judges include stylist Ethan Murray, clothing designer Angela Johnson and more special guests to be announced.

Personally and professionally, Hughes is just excited to be a part of Hair Wars Supreme Salon 2012.

“I hope to gain some exposure for my business. I want people can see how diverse my hairstyling skill is and what service I can provide.  Hopefully, the competition will bring me to that next level within my business. It’s my dream.”
