NAPLES, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2014) –Terracina Grand, a premier senior living community, today announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for its new two-story memory care community will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, adjacent to the existing property, near the corner of Davis Boulevard and County Barn Road in Naples. To commemorate the groundbreaking expansion of memory care at Terracina Grand, all event attendees will have a $25 donation made in their name to the Alzheimer's Support Network of Naples.

The Terracina Grand groundbreaking team at the ceremony will include Collier County Commissioner Donna Fiala; John Goodman, chairman, The Goodman Group; Craig Edinger, vice president, Senior Living & Health Care, The Goodman Group, and Peter Hendrickson, executive director, Terracina Grand. A reception will immediately follow the groundbreaking ceremony.

According to Collier County District 1 Commissioner Donna Fiala, “The tender love and care Terracina offers—and their beautiful facility—have been a very positive addition to our community. We have been looking forward to the memory care center opening and the health care it will provide.”

Reflective of Terracina Grand and The Goodman Group’s dedication to enhancing the lives of those with dementia, the event will include a historical timeline display on the journey and history of memory care in the United States since 1935. The Goodman Group, the development and management company for Terracina Grand, and a noted leader in memory care for nearly 50 years, helped revolutionize senior residential development and care. They are noted for developing purpose-built memory care communities, such as Arabella’s Garden and Arabella’s Place at Terracina Grand, offering beautiful resort-style residential settings and hospitality, and innovative Life Enrichment programs with its Pearls of Life® program.

Terracina Grand has been a notable leader in senior living and memory care since it opened in 2001. As with its existing memory care area, the new memory care community at Terracina Grand will provide residents a self-contained environment and operate utilizing the Pearls of Life® philosophy, an award-winning, national dementia program which provides personalized care plans, a home-like environment. The Pearls of Life® program also focuses on the daily successes and new experiences of each memory care resident.

The free-standing memory care community will add 55 Alzheimer’s and dementia care apartments for 60 residents, more than doubling Terracina Grand’s capacity to care for seniors in the Naples area in need of memory care. The building will feature five friendship suites, 46 studio apartments and four one-bedroom apartments available on a month-to-month lease. The residential units are on average 25 percent larger than the industry norm. The Goodman Group expects the new memory care community to add up to 80 new jobs at Terracina Grand and is scheduled to open in early 2015.

The memory care community will include hospitality features and services such as a family style dining area and club lounge on each floor, a grand living room with library, a large orangery (conservatory), Life Enrichment activities and programs, including outings, and a chapel/meditation room. Resident services include weekly housekeeping, weekly personal laundry, and transportation, as needed. In addition, screened porches will be located in the common areas throughout the building, facing a secured, outdoor courtyard area and garden. All apartments will have partial kitchens with sink and efficiency refrigerators. The layout of the building includes a continuous loop, always leading back to the main common areas.

The general contractor for the project is DeAngelis Diamond of Naples, Fla. The architect is HKS Architects of Ft. Meyers, Fla. and Dallas, Texas. Project development and design is being managed by JBG Design & Development of Chaska, Minn. Terracina Grand, a Platinum Service®community, is developed and managed by The Goodman Group of Chaska, Minn.
