The Hermitage Hotel Named Most Pet-Friendly Hotel in America
Only hotel in the South named to the list
NASHVILLE, Tenn., July 29, 2010 — TripAdvisor®, the world’s largest travel site, has awarded The Hermitage Hotel the top spot on their annual list of the top 10 pet-friendly hotels in the United States. The travel site conducted a survey of more than 1,200 U.S. travelers to find their preferred places to stay when traveling with furry friends.
Noting that The Hermitage Hotel’s Pampering Pet program was exceptional, TripAdvisor®, praised the hotel for providing “treats upon check-in, cozy beds, and a menu of delicacies to satisfy animal appetites.” The hotel offers guests traveling with their pet custom-made beds, room service from pet menus prepared by the hotel’s award-winning chefs, grooming and dog walking services.
“This honor is made all the more special because it comes from the recommendations and accolades of our former guests,” said Janet Kurtz, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing. “As a dog owner myself, I understand how at-home it makes one feel when you can stay with your pet.”
The Hermitage Hotel is the only hotel in the South to be named to the annual list. Other hotels included in the top 10 list were the Hotel Monaco in Portland, Ore., The Affinia Dumont in New York City, N.Y., The Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco, Calif., Nine Zero Hotel in Boston, Mass., The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, Ariz., Hotel Solamar in San Diego, Calif., Sheraton Hotel in Seattle, Wash. and the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in Coranado, Calif.
According to the survey, 61 percent of pet owners traveled with their pets last year and 26 percent consider their pet an inseparable part of the family that goes everywhere with them. Fourteen percent of owners feel that bringing the family pet with them on vacation is more cost-effective than using a kennel.
