Action and Discovery With The Hotel @ Times Square

New York is not just a city of designer suits and cosmopolitan couples, with plenty of child-orientated activities on offer it’s a great option for any family holiday looking for action, adventure and discovery. And it can be affordable, kids under 13 stay for free in a dedicated family suite at The Hotel @ Times Square who offer free continental breakfast too. Go on a  tour of the city’s best ghostly hotspots, a trip by boat up the Hudson River, witness one of NYC’s greatest sporting events or indulge with a sweet treat at a chocolate-themed restaurant, The Hotel @ Times Square has it covered:

Explore – On a fun spooky walking tour

Want to see the sights of the city but worried about getting lost or the kids getting tired and bored? Available throughout the May half-term, New York Ghost Tours offer fun spook-themed walking tours of the city, with ghoulish stories of New York’s most popular ghosts. Starting from Fifth Avenue, just a five-minute walk from the hotel, the tour guide is dressed in Victorian costume and leads the group by lantern light. Tours are very child-friendly and those under the age of six go free!

Thrill – On a ride up the river

A boat trip up the Hudson River is always a fun way for children to take a new perspective on a city. For those with older kids, why not take a spin on The Beast, an action-packed 30-minute speedboat ride, which starts at the beginning of May, just in time for half-term. Alternatively, younger families can join a Kids Cruise on selected dates this spring and summer. There’s a live music performance, a child-friendly tour guide, games and prizes to be won. Catch a cruise from the pier at the west end of 47th street, just one street up from The Hotel @ Times Square.

Play – Family festivals and baseball games

Every Saturday in August the annual Summer Streets festival opens up miles of the city’s streets to allow people to walk, bike and play. Last year’s festivities included a climbing wall, zip line, picnic spaces and a whole foods market. Or, for an all-American family day out, why not take the team to a baseball game at the New York Yankee Stadium. It’s just a short subway ride from the hotel, and with more hot dogs and flag-waving than you can shake a baseball bat at, the kids will go wild for the festival atmosphere.

Eat – Delicious dinners and sweet treats

It’s always useful to know which restaurants welcome families in a busy city. For a lunch or dinner try Blue Smoke on 27th Street. Their mouth-watering BBQ-style menu and friendly vibe are a real hit with children and parents alike. Alternatively, for a high energy treat, take a stroll from the hotel down Fifth Avenue to Max Brenner on 841 Broadway, for a host of chocolate-themed delights and a dedicated kids menu including sugar star landscape waffles with chocolate asteroids and Yumminummiwoopdidoohoo Chocolate Bagels!

Located in Midtown Manhattan, The Hotel @ Times Square offers complimentary continental breakfast, wi-fi and children aged 12 and under stay for free! Fewer rooms in the top floors provide added space for larger bookings and deluxe family suites include two connecting rooms with one king and one queen bed and a shared bathroom.
