VISITSWEDEN AND GLITTERATI INCORPORATED ANNOUNCE “PIN STOCKHOLM” CONTEST
VisitSweden and Glitterati today announced “Pin Stockholm,” a Pinterest-based contest that will award one grand prize winner a trip to Stockholm, Sweden.
New York, NY — October 2, 2012 — Working together for the first time, VisitSweden and Glitterati Incorporated today announced an open Pinterest contest to celebrate the upcoming release of The Hilton Brothers’ new book, Tattoos Hornets Fire: The Millennium Sweden Photographs. The contest will award a trip for two to visit Stockholm, Sweden, the city featured in the book by Christopher Makos and Paul Solberg. One signed copy of Tattoos Hornets Fire: The Millennium Sweden Photographs will also be given away each week for the duration of the eight-week contest.
“Pin Stockholm”, a campaign designed and developed by New York social media agency Whispr Group, was launched on September 24 and is scheduled to end November 19th. To enter, individuals must simply create a board on Pinterest called “Pin Stockholm” and pin their ultimate Stockholm vacation. Select images from Tattoos Hornets Fire will be released exclusively for use in the contest, and can be found (along with the contest rules) at PinStockholm.com.
The campaign was created to evoke the sort of curiosity described by Makos and Solberg in the book, allowing a greater public to discover Stockholm through the compelling images created exclusively for Tattoos Hornets Fire. The book serves as a visual introduction to Sweden and the places made so memorable and mesmerizing by Stieg Larsson. Christopher Makos and Paul Solberg are widely acknowledged as the best in their field and have published over 15 books on the subjects of art, artists, travel, flowers, and portraits, among others.
“Stockholm is unique in that the cityscape is virtually untouched by war, rare to most European capitals. So you have this beautifully northern ‘ginger-bread’ skyline,” says photographer Paul Solberg, “But—once deeper into town, if armed with the appropriate curiosity—you find a place full of sub-cultures, eccentricities and playful cuisine, all unique to Stockholm.”
VisitSweden is a communications company that works to promote the brand of Sweden and Swedish destinations and experiences internationally. In perfect harmony with these goals, Tattoos Hornets Fire: The Millennium Sweden Photographs is a robust visual rendition of Sweden and its people, which speaks volumes to the country’s unique heritage and beauty. Glitterati Incorporated, the book’s publisher, has set a general release for the book of October 16th, 2012.
”Working with VisitSweden to bring to light the wonders of the incredible country Sweden and it’s amazing queen city Stockholm, is just part of the delight of this book, which also allowed Glitterati to work with two renowned photographers whose work always delights and surprises. Bravo to everyone involved in making a superior book that will interest virtually anyone who loves Sweden, great literature, and extraordinary photography” says Glitterati publisher Marta Hallett.
"We are proud and thrilled to be working with Glitterati on this groundbreaking campaign, and at having renowned artists Makos and Solberg interpret our beautiful capital of Stockholm and it's culture through their creative camera eye" says Lotta Thiringer, US Director of VisitSweden.
