Manchester-based accountants notes efficiency boost after digital dictation switch

An accountancy practice in Manchester is benefitting from an improvement in efficiency after switching to digital dictation software that has been developed to improve document turnaround times.

Hall Liddy Accountants had been using a tape-based dictation system to process its client information but grew increasingly frustrated with a lack of reliability, tapes getting lost and poor sound quality.

Practice Manager Michelle Cowgill therefore turned to digital dictation specialist Lexacom to provide an alternative solution and the practice is now enjoying a huge improvement in efficiency. Ten accountants and three secretaries at Hall Liddy are now using Lexacom’s digital software.

Michelle Cowgill said: “When we were using the analogue dictation system, tapes would to sit in a basket downstairs for at least half an hour before they were picked up and acted upon. But with Lexacom there has definitely been an overall improvement in the speed with which things are processed.

“Because the secretaries have full visibility of the jobs on their screen, they can pick dictations up straight away and get them through the system without delay.”

Lexacom Managing Director Andrew Whiteley said: “By using outdated dictation equipment, firms are putting an unnecessary strain on themselves when it comes to turning documents around. But, as the success of the Hall Liddy practice confirms, a digital dictation solution allows firms to take back control of the dictation process and maximise their efficiencies.”
