Appointment brings global executive leadership in sales, manufacturing and new product development

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Wednesday, December 12, 2012) - The NanoSteel® Company, a leader in nano-structured steel materials design, today announced that Craig Parsons has joined the company as president of the automotive business. Based in the company’s new metro Detroit office, he will lead NanoSteel’s automotive initiatives and drive adoption of the company’s new Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) sheet across the industry. Parsons, with more than 20 years of experience in global supply chain solutions, manufacturing processes and new product development, is an expert in automotive parts and production. Through executive leadership roles at Gestamp and Noble International, Parsons is widely recognized for bringing leading light-weighting steel technologies such as laser welded blanks and tubes, roll-forming and hot-stamping to automotive OEMs.

“Bringing in someone of Craig’s level and accomplishment represents a significant milestone for the company as we work to introduce our AHSS sheet steel across the automotive sector,” said David Paratore, president and CEO. “Craig’s successful track record and unique combination of skills will be integral to our overall growth strategy as we transition from sheet steel production trials and validation to working with our customers on specific commercial applications for automotive structural parts and components.”

“NanoSteel’s three classes of cold formable AHSS provide powerful and versatile material choices for automakers,” said Craig Parsons. “Given the company’s recent sheet steel progress and the interest of numerous auto OEMs and Tier 1s such as GM, I look forward to working with our steel and automotive partners to leverage NanoSteel products across multiple platforms.”

Prior to joining NanoSteel, Parsons was vice president of sales and business development for Gestamp, the world’s largest stamping company, where he was responsible for leading sales and driving product development for North America. Before joining Gestamp, he was president of Noble International Ltd after serving as the executive vice president of global sales and marketing. During more than 16 years with Noble, Parsons was responsible for multiple international and joint ventures in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Mexico and Japan.

Parsons holds a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University, an M.S. from Michigan State University and an MBA from the University of Detroit.
