The Patchwork Traditional Food Company has become a Gold sponsor for the Ruthin Art Trail. The award-winning food production company’s support will enable the attraction to invest in audio tour guides for the visually impaired.

The art trail gives visitors to Ruthin the opportunity to discover the history behind Denbighshire’s county town through a series of spy holes and figures.

Ten spy holes are built into the walls of the town and 22 figures have been hidden among the town’s rooftops. Among the spy holes is one named Notorious Characters, which celebrates notable people of and from Ruthin. Patchwork founder, Margaret Carter, features in one of the spy holes alongside actor Rhys Ifans, whose films credits include Notting Hill and The Amazing Spider-Man.

A family business, Patchwork began with a start-up fund of £9.00 invested from then single mother Margaret's housekeeping funds. In these early days Margaret would prepare pâtés in her home near Llangollen, North Wales and supply them to local pubs and restaurants. Today the company employs 20 people at its purpose built kitchens in Ruthin.

The £250,000 Ruthin Art Trail begins at the Ruthin craft centre at the site of the old rail station, which attracts 90,000 visitors a year. As well as the spy holes and figures, oak benches and newly-planted trees enhance the trail and encourage further exploration.  The trail is available all year round.

Announcing the sponsorship, Margaret said: “Being fortunate enough to be based in this beautiful part of Wales, we leapt at the chance to be involved with the Ruthin Art Trail. The trail promotes the great history and architecture of Ruthin and we’re delighted that we can help make the town’s charms accessible to a wider audience.”

Patchwork’s products are stocked by selected independent retailers across the United Kingdom. All products are available online at www.patchwork-pate.co.uk and a range of pâtés are available on www.ocado.com.

The Patchwork Traditional Food Company is an award winning company founded in 1982 by Margaret Carter.

A family business, the company began with a start-up fund of £9, invested from then single mother Margaret's housekeeping funds. In these early days Margaret would prepare pâtés in her home near Llangollen, North Wales and supply them to local pubs and restaurants.

Today the company occupies purpose built kitchens in nearby Ruthin where it employs 20 people.

Margaret's son, Rufus shares the same passion as his mother and now that Rufus is the managing director of the company he ensures that all the products are still made to Margaret's original recipes.

Now The Patchwork Traditional Food Company's range of products extends beyond pâtés and comprises of over seventy different items.

The pâté range itself includes chicken liver, game liver, fish, cheese and vegetarian, including seasonal limited editions. Traditional flavours are skilfully blended with the unexpected to produce unique tastes such as Chicken Liver, Chilli & Lemongrass.

Other Products produced by Patchwork include ranges of Hummus, Chocolate Terrines, Chutneys and Soups.
