Childhood Fire Survivor John O’Leary Proves Power of the Human Spirit
(September 13, 2012 – Livingston, NJ): Entrepreneurs’ Organization of New Jersey hosted “Ignite Life!,” a speaking engagement about transforming personal and professional challenges into outstanding growth, featuring international speaker John O’Leary. The event was held at the Saint Barnabas Health Corporate Headquarters Corporate Café in Livingston Wednesday, September 12 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
O’Leary illustrated the ability that everyone has to overcome any obstacle and achieve any dream, regardless of circumstance, by drawing on his own experience of surviving a childhood fire which burned 100% of his body. Given less than a one percent chance to survive the first night, O’Leary endured months in the hospital, years in therapy, dozens of surgeries, and lost all of his fingers to amputation, and has gone on to become a college graduate, business owner, hospital chaplain, the Ambassador of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, international speaker, husband and father.
Inspiring audiences to rise above challenges, discover passion and fulfill potential, O’Leary empowers people to move past their comfort zone through emotional story-telling and great humor. He has shared his message with over 750 organizations to date.

About John O’Leary
In 2011, John O’Leary received the “Members Choice” Speaker Award from Vistage International. He was chosen as one of the Top Ten “Most Interesting People” in St. Louis, Missouri in 2009 and was selected as the St. Louis University Young Alumni of the Year in 2007. O’Leary was also the first inductee into the Energizer “Keep Going” Hall of Fame in 2006.
