The Christmas party season is upon us, you’ve waxed, tanned and buffed those pins into oblivion but those stubborn varicose veins don’t seem to be gong anywhere!

Almost half of adults suffer from these dreaded blue veins, old and young, male and female and likes of Jennifer Aniston, Britney Spears and Sarah Jessica Parker are just a few of the increasing number of celebrities that have been affected by the condition… Ms Spears is even said to be undergoing keyhole surgery to get rid of hers for good.

What are varicose veins and how do we get them? Common in the legs and ankles, varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins near the surface of the skin. Affecting up to three in 10 adults, varicose veins are caused by weakened valves and veins in your legs and while they do not always present a serious health problem, they have an unpleasant appearance and can leave women feeling self-conscious.

The New Year is time for change and thanks to Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness & Health, women can now treat unattractive varicose veins at an affordable cost, with a getaway to Gran Canaria’s leading San Roque Hospital and Clinic and a stay at one of its luxury spa resorts - leaving them feeling in good health, glowing and full of self-confidence:

1 -
With microfoam sclerosis

Sclerosis with microfoam involves injecting a substance into varicose veins that causes swelling and closes the bloodstream. The substance is commonly used polidocanol and used at a different concentration depending on the caliber of the varicose vein sclerosis you want. The sclerosing agent acts by producing an inflammatory reaction within the vein, which causes the vein to begin to disappear within six - eight weeks. With this technique, you can treat almost any type of varicose veins, but it MUST make a proper assessment prior to obtaining good results. Variceal sclerosis with microfoam is particularly indicated in reticular veins, varicose veins and spider veins.

This technique is fully ambulatory, so that the patient leaves the operating room on foot and in perfect condition to continue performing their usual activities. Furthermore, this technique can be combined with others such as surgical treatment to remove the varicose veins endolaser side, or do so prior to laser treatment of telangiectases epicutaneous, to increase the effectiveness of this technique

2 - Fotoesclerosis with neodymium - YAG laser
YAG laser is a non-invasive type of laser treatment, which penetrates the surface and the energy it releases is absorbed by the tissues. The Yag laser is used successfully for the treatment of varicose veins, producing coagulation at the level of the veins
