Saturday 20 July 2013 at The Springfields Academy, Curzon Street, Calne, SN11 0DS

The Springfields Academy, an OFSTED Outstanding educational institution, will hold its fourth annual ball on Saturday 20 July at its premises in Calne. Titled Lions Pride, the event will honour the return of The British & Irish Lions rugby team from its tour of Australia and welcome former captain, Gareth Edwards CBE, as special guest and speaker. The ball is sponsored by local family owned business, Chippenham Motor Company.

Taking place in a luxurious marquee in The Springfields Academy’s glorious grounds, the event will raise money to take ten students to Everest Base Camp as part of the institution’s latest Extreme Classroom Challenge, The Highest Classroom on Earth.

The black tie event will commence at 6:30 pm with a champagne reception sponsored by dynamic independent public relations consultancy, redhadPR. Guests will then enjoy a four-course meal prepared the award winning ‘George and Dragon’ outside catering of Rowde. Throughout the evening live entertainment will be provided by Chris Poole and The Shades, the Birmingham-based six-piece function/party band whose musical style is broad and varied. Gareth Edwards CBE, who in 2003 was declared the greatest Rugby player of all time, will present the after-dinner speech.

The Extreme Classroom concept was conceived to help pupils gain confidence, develop their social skills and build relationships. Learning takes place outside the traditional classroom, often presenting tough mental and physical challenges. This year’s challenge, The Highest Classroom on Earth, will see ten children, chosen from a selection and training process, climb to the Everest Base Camp. The Springfields Academy believes that pupils excel when challenged and push themselves beyond the limits of expectation.

As part of the fundraising, the ball will feature a charity auction with prizes donated by many local companies. A wide variety of auction prizes will be available to be won, including unique sporting memorabilia, event tickets and much more.

The Springfields Academy provides support for vulnerable children with complex learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. This specialist residential school is known for its world class standard of innovation in the educational sector.

Tickets for The Springfields Academy fourth annual ball are available at £550.00 for a table of 12 or £50 per person. To make your booking, contact Phil Cooch on 01249 814125 or email pcooch@springfields.wilts.sch.uk.
