THE WINES OF CHILE EXPERIENCE HITS THE SLOPES THIS SUMMER
One Wine Enthusiast Will Win Airfare for Two on LAN Airlines and a Five-Night Stay at Valle Nevado Ski Resort
NEW YORK, NY (June 7, 2011)—The Wines of Chile Experience, supported by ProChile, announces Sips & Slopes, a competition in which one passionate wine and ski enthusiast and a guest will win a five–night stay at Chile’s largest ski resort, Valle Nevado, including two round-trip airline tickets on LAN airlines. By composing and tweeting an original haiku about Chile using the hashtag #SipsSlopes, applicants to Sips & Slopes will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the world-class wine and landscapes that make Chile the ultimate travel destination.
“Chile has one of the most diverse landscapes in the world,” says Lori Tieszen, Executive Director of Wines of Chile USA. “The varying topography of this dynamic country provides the perfect conditions for skiing as well as an ideal climate for the production of a diverse range of wines – two things the winner of our Sips & Slopes winner will have the chance to enjoy firsthand.”
The riches of Chile’s majestic landscapes—encompassing the windswept plains and granite spires of Patagonia, golden beaches, grape-filled valleys, the snowy slopes of the Andes, and otherworldly desert expanses—is rivaled only by the country’s prodigious literary heritage. With greats like Pablo Neruda, Gabriela Mistral and Isabel Allende, it is little wonder that Chile is known as un país de poetas -- a country of poets.
Applicants to Sips & Slopes will be asked to tap into their own poetic side and tweet a haiku that represents their take on the lyricism of Chile: vistas, wine, words. The winner will fly to Santiago on LAN Airlines, South America’s premier airline, and stay at the breathtaking Valle Nevado for five-nights filled with fine cuisine, award-winning wines and unparalleled skiing at Chile's largest and most modern ski resort.
Applications for Sips & Slopes will be accepted from June 2, 2011 until June 30, 2011. Only one entry per person and Twitter account will be accepted. Each entry will be reviewed for creativity, relevance and adherence to the haiku format. The winner will be announced on or around July 7, 2011.
