Memories are so much more real and believable especially in the case of going on safari when they are captured in pictures. Lion World Tours is very excited to introduce “Photography 101” to each of their guests going on a safari to Lion Sands, Tinga or Madikwe Safari Lodge. Guests will have a lesson in how to get the perfect photo. Photography 101 is for someone who wants to learn how to operate their own camera in this unique environment. Qualified Field Rangers have spent many hours watching and photographing the wilderness that surrounds the lodge and have some great tips and tricks to help guests.
Whether you have a point and shoot camera or a digital SLR, you may find that you have many of the same settings. Understanding these settings and how they work is one of the fundamentals of photography. With today’s cameras one can take great pictures on 'Auto' mode, but with more knowledge you will be able to take your shots to the next level. While this is fine for simple snapshots, actual photography requires much more. Photography is all about light, composure and learning how to determine the right exposure. Understanding those fundamentals will make it much easier.
When Lion World Tours guests go on a safari to Lion Sands, Tinga or Madikwe Safari Lodge, one of the Field Rangers will go through the basic principles of taking photographs on safari. This will include recommended camera settings for morning, afternoon and evening safaris; choreography of photographs in terms of positioning of the subject; tips on how the safari is conducted so guests will know when the best opportunities will present themselves; capturing a moving scene as well as general advice on how to select the best of the images on returning to the Lodge.
