Ian Murray-Watson takes inspiration from dreaming and consciousness to write first novel.

“After many long discussions with a friend about lucid dreaming, consciousness, reality and quantum physics the story for A Stitch in Time was born,” explains Herefordshire author Ian about the inspiration behind his fantasy novel.

Ian’s novel focusses on a research project, tucked away in a remote corner of Wales. Unfortunately the scientists are playing with fire and are about to bring about the end of Time itself, and consequently the end of the universe as we know it.

The Gods (a coalition government these days) are unable to interfere under the terms and conditions of their own existence. They decide to send an envoy to the dream world, more commonly known as Astralia, to ask for help. The Astralians offer to send agents to our world, although when they arrive they usually have no recollection of why they were sent.

In the ‘real’ world, lead scientist Tom meets Lucy, the girl of his dreams. They fall in love, but do they really know who they are? As reality disintegrates, is there still time to save the universe? Is the answer always yes – and no? “The book presents some serious ideas, but in a humorous fashion,” adds Ian. “I’d hate anyone to think I took myself too seriously!”

Copies of Ian's fascinating novel are available upon request from Matador.
