Huib van Hoeven takes a light-hearted and humorous approach to teaching religion

Having spent many years conducting intercessions and leading morning praise services author Huib van Hoeven found that religion is often portrayed in a serious manner.

Huib van Hoeven found that religion often fails to spark the imagination of the younger generation. His own style of worship, exemplified in his book Religion Can Be Fun, is light-hearted and aims to create a smile in those who wish to learn more about religion.

“In general the church comes over as heavy and serious and vestments, rituals and practices are seen as incomprehensible. Though the so-called ‘High Church’ has many followers, it has little place for the younger generation,” observes Huib. He goes on to add, “In compiling this book I hope to show that there can be another side of religion, which may be attractive to younger people. I feel that the church could offer much more to people, particularly those who are younger.”

In Religion Can Be Fun the reader is challenged to experience the impact of the messages within the book and see the difference in themselves. It aims to give the doubter and the sceptic the opportunity to think again about their views, as well as giving the readers at the end of their tethers a stimulant and a new will to live.

Copies of Huib van Hoeven's light-hearted book, Religion Can Be Fun, are available upon request from Matador.
