Chuckle Verse is witty, sometimes sexist, often mocking and always very relatable

This fun little book by Leicestershire author, Lizzy Wade, is all about everyday life, events and occasions. Lizzy’s tongue-in-cheek verse blends rhymes, parodies and limericks into one laugh- out-loud book.

“I have been writing poems since I was a child and I continued to write the odd poem, but these were mainly for friends and family,” observes Lizzy. It was after her sons had left home and also after her mother’s death that Lizzy felt compelled to dedicate more of her time to writing. She felt a strong connection to her mother’s spirit: “I would feel more creative at certain times, often at night, and would frantically scribble down my ideas in the dark, only to have to decipher them in the daylight!” says Lizzy. “I felt strongly that my mother was inspiring me to write my poems and believe she sent me signs such as white feathers, to encourage me,” says Lizzy.

With beautiful illustrations and a knack of highlighting the comedy in almost any situation, Chuckle Verse is a book that all women will be able to relate to, in some way. Lizzy is available for interview and review copies of her humorous new tome are also available, on request.
