The second novel from Newmarket author Lexa Dudley takes us back in time in Sardinia
Suffolk-based author Lexa Dudley chose to continue her writing career with another novel set in her favourite place
“I love Sardinia, so it was a chance to try and convey that love to others, in both this book and The Whispering Wind,” explains Lexa, referring to the novel she published with Matador in 2013. “It also gave me more excuses to return to the island, which is always wonderful.”
Children of the Mists is an emotional love story. Set in the 1800s, life on Sardinia had barely changed since the time of the Caesars. Two families, the Sannas and the Canus, are united by friendship and honour; love and laughter; joy and promises; omens and superstitions; youth and experience transcend generations. However, for Raffaella and Antonio, their passionate love becomes entangled with revenge. Death changes devotion. Promises are forgotten. Vendettas cannot be ignored. Ambition clouds judgments. Antonio and Raffaella were promised to each other, nothing would keep them apart, not even family. Committed to each other, they fight for their love against all odds...
Lexa has returned to Sardinia every year since 1972. She hopes that Children of the Mists will encourage readers to also fall in love with this little-known island.
Praise for Children of the Mists:
“A love story that will win the hearts of readers with its many dimensions. An endearing love story that will captivate the readers with its romance, passion, revenge and honour...” – Mamta Madhavan for Readers’ Favourite
Lexa Dudley is a freelance writer and a poet. She fell in love with the island of Sardinia in 1972 when visiting with her family and became intrigued with the island's unique culture. She wrote her first book, The Whispering Wind (Matador) in 2013 and won three prizes in America for it. Lexa lives in Suffolk with her husband, three dogs and two horses. She is available for interview about the book, and review copies of Children of the Mists are now available upon request.
