Thousands of International Dancers Gather in Hollywood for DANCE EXCELLENCE.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Los Angeles, CA):  The global arts community is growing much closer thanks to DANCE EXCELLENCE, an International Festival for Young Dancers, held April 1-7, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.  After commemorating its 20th season last spring, DANCE EXCELLENCE will bring together artists, dancers, and directors from Asia, North America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and Africa. These thousands of dancers share each other's cultures, languages, love of dance and life and in doing so, their cultural boundaries disappear.

To the untrained eye, this weeklong event may appear to look like any other dance convention, with master classes, group rehearsals, and performances. However, a closer look inside reveals unique changes in the lives of the dancers, their studio directors and families. “Together these dancers learn, not only about new dance styles, new techniques and the entertainment industry but also about themselves and their peers from around the world,” says Annie McQuitty, founder and producer of DANCE EXCELLENCE. “They start the week timid, but within 24 hours they are dancing, laughing and texting each other in a myriad of languages.”

Participants are also treated to a Broadway show and a live, dance performance of the world’s top dance professionals from television shows like “So You Think You Can Dance,”  “America’s Best Dance Crew” and film’s “Step Up 2,” as well as Broadway’s leading dancers and Hollywood’s top working choreographers. The seven-day event culminates at Disneyland with directors’ original shows where dancers perform for each other and a Disneyland audience every style from Ballet to Hip Hop to their own countries’ cultural dances.

The goal of DANCE EXCELLENCE is to support and inspire dance teachers and touch the lives of dancers who travel the globe to connect. Nick Young, a 9-year participant and one of the Top 20 on “So You Think You Can Dance” comments, “Dance Excellence has really opened me up as a dancer and as a person. It gave me the confidence to try out for Season 8 of SYTYCD. Working with dancers from all over the world made it easy to connect with my fellow dancers on the show.  I owe it all to Dance Excellence!”

DANCE EXCELLENCE is a by invitation only event, however  interested studio directors from around the world and the United States can receive information by emailing at defestiva@aol.com.  More information and videos can be found at www.defestival.com.
