TheWriteDeal partner’s online new blog offers an innovative way to connect writers with readers and stimulate conversation in a virtual literary community.

Launched in July 2012, the W³ Sidecar blog showcases posts where writers can pick five questions to answer about themselves and their work. The free forum, powered by Tumblr, which boasts an audience of 137 million, aims to help writers promote their works.

Words With Writers creator Marissa Bell Toffoli started the W³ Sidecar because. “I want to bring more authors into conversation about books and the writing life,” says Toffoli.

The brief question-and-answer format of W³ Sidecar lends a fun, conversational feel to this supplement to the longer, in-depth interviews she has been publishing in Words With Writers since 2010. The pioneering W³ Sidecar blog presents writers with new opportunities to inspire each other and guide readers to great books they might have otherwise missed, she says.

“As digital book publishing grows, and book tours for authors have become rare and more expensive, online communities are filling the gap in with efficient, social-media ways for writers and readers to connect.”
