Axiom® by Formica Group worktops and splashbacks have been installed at the recently opened Cakeydora’s Baking Academy in Lichfield, Staffordshire. Used throughout the teaching area, the Axiom® worktop range helped to create a stylish and contemporary look.

Julie Crisp, Cakeydora’s owner, says: “We wanted to achieve a professional and slightly industrial look for the main teaching area. The White Scovato worktops combined with splashbacks in Brushed Aluminium created clean and sharp lines. At the same time, the use of white made the kitchen area look bigger and airier; providing a clean canvas for other elements such as the main bar, for which we used splashbacks in bright and glossy Amarena.”

Scovato, a lightly chiselled finish used on Cakeydora’s worktops, enhances a simple plain colour surface. Surface textures are a stylish way to create depth and dimension; current trends favour low-gloss textures for a subtle but dramatic statement.

After many years of all-white and neutral schemes, colour has returned to interior design. To clad the area underneath the main breakfast bar, Julie chose Amarena Gloss splashbacks, adding a burst of colour to the teaching space. While splashbacks are usually used above a worktop, their creative use as footer panel demonstrates the flexibility and versatility of the product both design and application wise.

Highly resistant to impact, scratching and moisture, Axiom splasbacks provide a seamless, grout-free surface which can be easily wiped down – no need to cry over the spilt milk!

Axiom® laminate worktops and accessories are inherently hygienic, easy to install and require minimal maintenance: they can simply be wiped clean with a damp cloth and a mild detergent.
