Cologne Sept, 2, 2014: The innovative spirit in the Excelsior Hotel Ernst is fully underway.  Guests of Cologne's traditional hotel can look forward to new luxurious rooms. SuitePads are going to be an additional service for rooms and suites of the Grand-Hotel vis-a-vis the cathedral. The completely new gym equipment and the opportunity of having a comfortable workout in a noble ambiance in the Excelsior Hotel Ernst, led by Managing Director Henning Matthiesen, provides an attraction for athletic and active guests. The list of innovations is completed by a newly designed website where current and future guests can access all the information about the hotel's innovative improvements.

As part of the remodeling process, the successful balancing act between tradition and modernity is best reflected by some selected rooms, which top interior designers remodeled and modernized with outstanding attention to detail.  The newly-designed rooms are promisingly named “Grand Deluxe”. “The rooms radiate even more warmth and comfort and because of the new, timeless design they offer a quality of living at the highest stage”, describes Matthiesen. Also the new line of cosmetic products “Asprey” adds to the guests enjoyment.

At the Excelsior Hotel Ernst, traditional interior and ambiance paired with a modern technical décor form a perfect symbiosis. From now on, all guests have access to internet in each and every room: All 142 rooms and suites are currently being equipped with “SuitePads”, on which any information about the hotel is easily accessible for the guests. The pads also offer tips for an enjoyable and efficient stay in Greater Cologne. The internet access when using the SuitePad or mobile end devices is free of cost.

From here on out, building up a sweat in the Excelsior Hotel Ernst will also be more enjoyable. Overnight- guests who, for example after the Afternoon Tea inspired by Pierre Hermé or after a visit at the in-house top restaurants taku or Hanse Stube, feel the need to reduce their calorie count, can have a good romp using Technogym's new high-tech equipment.

The subtle face-lifting was also consequently put in affect in regards to the Excelsior Hotel Ernst's advertising material. “We are extremely proud of our new website, obviously designed responsively. The website perfectly mirrors the hotel's new face and by providing new and fresh pictures, we get our guests excited about their stay,” says Stefan Mueller, Director of Sales and Marketing at Excelsior Hotel Ernst.

“The high investments in our portfolio and in our staff's quality of service are paying off in the long run,” sums Managing Director Matthiesen up. Once the fitness area is completed, the new remodeling progress involving 1.2 million Euros for 20 rooms will get started.

Since the hotel has been founded in 1863, it has been family-owned. Thus, one of the most respected and most famous Grand-hotels in Germany has an impressive history to look upon: 150 years ago, the former royal restaurateur Carl Ernst first opened the hotel's gates. Up until today, carefully recruited experts are hired to combine the hotel's tradition with today's modernity.

The Excelsior Hotel Ernst is Cologne's only member of the cooperation “Leading Hotels of the World” and also belongs to Germany's selection of luxury hotels. Like all of the selected hotels, the Excelsior Hotel Ernst offers personal service. Henning Matthiesen is in charge of the hotel's management. He is known to be very empathetic of his highly-motivated team and to lead them aiming to continue the hotel's valuable tradition.
