“Threads® allows an easy search facility for ALL digital communications on a project"

Architects practices and constructors are to be amongst the first to receive free pilot test offers for Threads®, the software development that allows fast and easy searching across all a project teams’ digital communications such as emails and phone calls.

It won a global Innovation award last week, and architects and constructors are being invited to find out more in a webinar this Thursday 23rd October, starting at 4pm.

Architects and constructors deal with many different trades and professionals on their design and building projects, and keeping track of all the communications exchanged both within the team and external contacts can be tricky.” explains John Yardley, Managing Director of JPY, the developers of Threads, and one of the longest established software companies in the UK.

“Emails often include very large attachments which can quickly burn up storage space and search times, particularly when they are copied to all relevant parties. Threads does away with the need to cc all the parties you think might be interested. All messages are automatically backed up off site, together with key attachments, so it’s never a problem to find a file or even recover a message that is deleted.” John says.

Threads’ ability to seamlessly include VoIP phone calls can increase its usefulness by an order of magnitude. “And it is easy to use. With Threads, you can access, search and recover messages without needing a degree in computer science.” Concludes John.

Last but not least, Threads provides an automatic way for architects and constructors to build and maintain their own contact database – reflecting the people they actually deal with on a day-to-day basis.

Last week, Threads won a Global Business Excellence Award in their Outstanding Innovation category, alongside other winners announced by GBEA including Microsoft, Vodafone and BAe Systems.

The webinar is this Thursday, 23rd October, 4pm-5pm BST, contact threads@jpy.com for more information or register here.

JPY Plc is one of the most established software companies in the UK, starting in 1982.

When it migrated its customer records from steel cabinets to digital disks, staff noticed that the gains made in digitisation were matched by a loss in collaboration. With a filing cabinet, staff had access to a physical, paper customer file - and it was obvious when someone else was working on it. The replacement digital versions mostly ended up hidden in private user emails. Worse, despite the phenomenal searching power of computers, users still had trouble finding documents or messages.

As computer scientists working in the field of high-performance workflow, JPY were ideally placed to find a solution, and the result is a software service called Threads®.
