Visually-impaired ski racer Jade Etherington and her guide Caroline Powell are sponsored by Thule in their quest to compete at top level of disability skiing. At the Sochi Winter Paralympics they managed to bag three silver medals and a bronze, making Great Britain and Thule extremely proud!

At Thule it is our aim make an active life as simple as possible, so Jade and her guide Caroline knew they could count on us in supporting their quest to compete at the top of their game. 23-year-old Jade Etherington suffers from a genetic condition called Axenfield’s syndrome, which has left her with less than 5% vision in each eye. Over the last five years, Jade has rapidly developed herself from an amateur skier into a serious alpine ski racing contender, achieving many podium positions in global races.

But Jade and Caroline’s biggest achievement to date is winning four medals at the Sochi Paralympics. The pair grabbed their three silver medals in the downhill ski, the ski-slalom and in the Super-Combined event. They also won a bronze in the super-G event. With this multiple medal win they have made history, as they are the first Britons to win four medals at one Winter Games.

Jade said: “At times it has been a physical, mental and emotional roller-coaster after a tough fight in our races, but we are really happy to have four medals from four races. Actually getting these medals after all these years is amazing.”

Thule has sponsored the pair with a range of top-quality products, including the Thule WingBar Edge roof rack,  the Thule Xtender 739 ski carrier, Thule Easy-fit Snow Chains, Thule Crossover Carry-On suitcases and Thule Gauntlet 13" MacBook Pro Attachés. They will also receive a Thule Touring 700 roof box when it comes out at the end of this month.

About Thule’s support, Jade said: “It’s great to know that our gear is safe and sound with Thule’s products to protect it. It’s good that we didn’t have to worry about any of that in Sochi, and we could focus on the job at hand – winning those medals!”

Thule is proud to sponsor Jade and Caroline and congratulates them on their fantastic Paralympic wins.
