Thule has emerged as the winner of one of Europe's most prestigious product tests for cycle carriers with its Thule EuroWay G2 920 and Thule ProRide 591. The tests were conducted by the German Stiftung Warentest in co-operation with the ADAC and ÖAMTC motoring organizations in Germany and Austria.

Thule, world leader in products that make it easy for people to transport their equipment safely, securely and in style, has emerged as the winner of one of Europe's most prestigious product tests for cycle carriers with its Thule EuroWay G2 920 and Thule ProRide 591. The tests were conducted by the German Stiftung Warentest in co-operation with the ADAC and ÖAMTC motoring organizations in Germany and Austria.

In co-operation with the German and Austrian motoring organizations ADAC and ÖAMTC, the German testing institute Stiftung Warentest conducts tests and reviews of bike carriers on the European market. The test is conducted annually and covers a broad portfolio of products related to the motor industry. ADAC is the German Automobile Association and is the largest organization of its kind in Europe. ADAC has just over 15 million members. ÖAMTC is its Austrian counterpart.

Thule EuroWay G2 920, which is an elegant, light and compact bike carrier, was the clear winner for the transport of bicycles on the towbar. The carrier received high scores in all three tested areas - safety and durability, ease of handling and comfort while driving.

Thule ProRide 591, a smart and stylish way for transporting your bikes, also emerged as the winner by a correspondingly large margin. It also scored highest of all tested bike carriers in the category of cycle transport on the car roof. Thule ProRide 591 is an iconic product in Thule's portfolio and has previously won the test in both 2004 and 2009.

“This is one of the most extensive and rigorous testing programs in Europe,” says Christian Ludwig, International Product Manager for the bike segment at Thule. “When two of our products take the number one position in their respective category, we see this as clear proof that it pays to work with quality and high standards in every detail - from development to finished product. We have also recently launched a carrier for electric bikes (e-bikes), the Thule EuroPower 916. With this bike carrier we now have a complete range of bike carriers for all wants and needs,” says Christian Ludwig.

The tests were conducted in the spring of 2011 and included a total of 14 different bike carriers within the price range € 250 - € 500 (towbar fitted carriers) and € 29 - € 89 (roof-mounted carriers).
