Thurgood Marshall College Fund Rallies Toward a New Chapter in its History
Celebrating 25 Years of Extraordinary Leadership
NEW YORK, NY (January 26, 2012) – The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) announced today the launch of their 25th Anniversary Celebration with renewed purpose and results-oriented strategies specifically designed to take TMCF into another quarter century of service.
TMCF will host several events throughout the year, culminating with the 25th Anniversary Awards Gala on Monday, October 29, 2012. This year’s gala will be held at a spectacular venue: the New York Hilton Hotel which boasts a lavish ballroom providing the ideal backdrop to host celebrity “A-Listers” and international dignitaries being confirmed at the affair. At last year’s anniversary dinner, during the 25th Anniversary ribbon cutting ceremony, three donors committed $2.5 million in gifts to TMCF: Altria, Walmart, Inc. and founding partner MillerCoors, bringing TMCF to the 10% mark of its goal to raise $25 million dollars in its 25th year.
Coinciding with the 25thAnniversary year, the organization made changes to the brand. TMCF’s new slogan, Where Education Pays Off, was co-developed by senior staff & board members of the TMCF along with top creative executives of Burson Marsteller, a leading global public relations and communications firm. The new logo and tagline are a perfect fit for the national organization that has provided scholarships and programmatic support for nearly 300,000 students and established a Leadership Institute affording professional development and job placement.
“We are most excited about the new slogan because we believe it universally messages to our stakeholder groups (students, parents, member-school leaders, and donors) that an investment in higher education will yield an incredible return for our communities and, indeed, our country” said Jamaal Bailey, vice president of marketing.
This ultimate transition in the slogan leads to a modification of the logo, which now includes the slogan “Where Education Pays Off.”
“At the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, we accept the critical charge to lead the production of our nation’s next leaders, and our 25thAnniversary milestone acknowledges the importance of the work the fund does with regard to capacity building and programmatic support for its network of 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Our new brand defines the work we do globally and exemplifies how we’re able to deliver world ready and career ready leaders to Corporate America,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr. TMCF president & CEO.
