Tieto becomes turnkey IT supplier for Region Skåne
Tieto has signed an agreement to become the turnkey IT supplier for Region Skåne, one of Sweden’s largest regional councils. The deal is valid for four years and includes an extension option for another eight years. The four-year contract will enter into force on October 1st 2015 and is valued at EUR 70 million, of which about a third is estimated to go directly to Tieto’s subcontractors.
Under the outsourcing deal, Tieto will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, coordination and development of user-related IT in order to supply Region Skåne’s 32,000 employees with modern services and new technology. The agreement includes areas such as printing, work stations, multimedia and video conferences as well as service desk with local and extra technicians support.
Tieto has cooperated with Region Skåne for 30 years and has, together with other suppliers, shared the responsibility of the organisation’s user-related IT since 2010. By penning the new agreement, and by extending a previous deal for the operation of servers and applications, Tieto will now become the turnkey IT supplier for Region Skåne.

Region Skåne is responsible for healthcare, public transportation and the development of business, culture, infrastructure, urban planning as well as environmental and climate issues in the Skåne region. The bulk of the operations consist of health, healthcare and publicly financed dental care.
