Tieto today announced it has earned Oracle SuperCluster Optimized status through Oracle Partner Network, demonstrating that Tieto Card Suite has been tested and tuned on Oracle SuperCluster to deliver speed, scalability and reliability to customers. Tieto is a Platinum level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork. Tieto Card Suite performance tests have been carried out at the Oracle technical test facility in Linlithgow, Scotland, with the involvement of Thales, manufacturer of cryptography products.

The tests showed 10,000 transactions per second for the transactional flow routing solution, and 5,000 tps for the full card authorization solution at an average response time of 0.1 second. In each of these scenarios Thales Hardware Security Module (HSM) payShield 9,000 were used.

The performance tests recreated real working conditions of financial institutions processing large amounts of transactions on the Tieto Card Suite array. Each scenario lasted for an hour, during which Card Suite emulated different operations – routing operations between banks and card schemes, cash-out operations, balance enquiries, cash-in operations and POS purchases. Card Suite configuration based on the Oracle SuperCluster M7 had 10,000,000 card accounts, 25,000 ATMs and 100,000 POS terminals, which represents a large European bank.

Running with Oracle SuperCluster M7 and with Thales’ latest technology, Tieto Card Suite exceeded expectations twofold. The achieved results show that Tieto Card Suite is a payments solution that can comply with the highest performance requirements of large banks, third party processors and central banks in any part of the world.

The requirements for such solutions are immense: they require scalability and extreme efficiency in operation, while running on such a solution architecture that is indeed future-proof.

The combination of these solutions has been a first choice for many leading transactional business organizations and operators worldwide. These tests prove yet again the right platform combination and a great return on R&D investment.

“Our many years of work with Oracle allows us to offer modern technological solutions to our customers and the results of performance tests on the Oracle SuperCluster M7 demonstrate the capabilities of the Tieto Card Suite. We are pleased to offer a truly reliable solution that provides high performance in high load conditions,” says Maris Ozolins, director of Cards at Tieto. “Furthermore, the combination of Tieto Card Suite, Oracle SuperCuster and Thales HSMs provides our customers with a feasible, cost efficient and scalable solution,” he later adds.

“Thales and Tieto have had a long and successful cooperation over many years. We are extremely pleased to see such outstanding results from the combined Tieto Card Suite, Oracle SuperCluster and Thales payShield 9000 hardware security module performance tests. I am sure that these results will provide the confidence necessary for transaction processors all over the world, regardless of size.” adds Paul Meadowcroft, Director Product Management, Thales e-Security.

“Oracle Exastack Optimized recognizes partners who have optimized their solutions on a complete, integrated and cloud-ready infrastructure in order to help them accelerate innovation, unlock new features and functionality, and deliver superior value to users,” said David Hicks, Vice President, Worldwide ISV, OEM and Java Business Development, Oracle. “By achieving Oracle SuperCluster Optimized status Tieto has demonstrated its Card Suite 4.2.6 is tested and tuned to work with Oracle SuperCluster to help deliver optimum performance, scalability, and reliability to their customers.”

Oracle SuperCluster is an integrated server, storage, networking and software system that provides maximum end-to-end database and application performance and minimal initial and ongoing support and maintenance effort and complexity at the lowest total cost of ownership. It is ideal for Oracle Database and best for customers who need to maximize return on their software investments, increase their IT agility and improve application usability and overall IT productivity.

By achieving Oracle SuperCluster Optimized status, Oracle recognizes Tieto for developing, testing and tuning Card Suite 4.2.6 on Oracle SuperCluster. This accomplishment is a testament to Tieto’s ability to deliver the extreme performance and reliability customers require.
