Finland Post increases holding in Atkos Printmail Finland Post Ltd plans to increase its holding in Atkos Printmail Oy, a joint venture company currently owned by the Post (51 %) with TietoEnator Corporation (49 %). After the transaction the Post will hold 80 % of Atkos Printmail, which provides printing, mailing and direct marketing services. Underlying this transaction is the owning companies' aim to raise efficiency by focusing on their core businesses and operations that support them. The Post is emphasizing comprehensive value-added services for physical and electronic communication. Atkos Printmail's electronic messaging business and supporting services also offer opportunities for international expansion. TietoEnator's priority is high-value-added electronic business services and application rental services. Finland Post and TietoEnator are evaluating the opportunities for expanded co-operation outside Finland. The companies believe that specialization and pooling their respective expertise will enable them to create opportunities for increasing their international business operations. TietoEnator will record a profit of MEUR 21 on the transaction in its first-quarter results in 2001. Finland Post and TietoEnator set up a joint venture called Nordic Printmail in 1998. This brought together the Post's expertise in messaging with TietoEnator's IT knowhow to create an efficient and comprehensive service package covering printing, feedback, direct marketing, mailing, digital printing and electronic archiving. Last year Nordic Printmail acquired the direct marketing activities of Atkos Oy and as a result the company was renamed Atkos Printmail Oy. Its net sales for the current year will total approximately FIM 280 million with about 500 employees.
