Five local authorities in the Siljan district chose accounting system from TietoEnator The local authorities in Leksand, Mora, Orsa, Rättvik and Älvdalen have jointly purchased the accounting system Devis/X from TietoEnator. Smaller local authorities have a lot to benefit by co-operating where procurements are concerned, partly to keep the price down and partly to exchange competence. "The competition has been tough since there are several competent suppliers in the area but TietoEnator's overall concept was the deciding factor. The functions in Devis/X form the basis for our choice", says Ingvar Skeppstedt, controller for the Älvdalen local authority. Prior to the procurement the five local authorities involved formed working groups who produced precise requirement specifications and evaluated the proposals in question. The aims of the purchase have, among others, been to keep the system costs down, to create a joint knowledge base, to be able to conduct joint training programmes and to create a network for the exchange of experiences between the accounting staff in the local authorities. "I am impressed by how easy it has been to co-operate in the working groups. It is of considerable value in small local authorities to build up networks since the accounts departments are limited. When we now implement Devis/X we will have a joint accounting system with a joint code system. We have come a long way in co-ordinating our working routines", Ingvar Skeppstedt continues.
