IT service company TKP Tieto Oy celebrates 40th anniversary TKP Tieto, a TietoEnator consulting company specialising in employment pensions and insurance IT systems, is the oldest IT company in Finland. The company celebrates its 40th anniversary on 24 October this year. Throughout its history TKP Tieto has provided information technology services, from mainframe based information systems in past decades to modern Web solutions today. TKP Tieto is currently building a new employment pension web portal for its clients called 'tyoelake.fi', which will offer citizens general and personal services related to employment pensions. The company also deploys network technology in its own customer service operations. The company's four decades of history encompass the entire spectrum of hardware and software systems. In 1961 TKP Tieto purchased its first mainframe computer, at that time the largest in Finland. Information technology in those days also involved a lot of manual work such as the use of punch cards, flowcharting templates and computer printouts. Now everyone has their own workstation with applications and software according to need. Contact with customers and the rest of the world now take place through the Internet. TKP Tieto's customers are Finnish employment pension institutions and pension insurance companies. The company has about 200 employees and annual net sales of about FIM 100 million.
