Procapita from TietoEnator to Helsinki City TietoEnator's business system that is already used by over 150 Swedish local authorities is to be a market leader in Finland. The City of Helsinki has purchased TietoEnator's business support system Procapita for child-care and parts of the personal and family counselling services. This is a pioneering deal where the former Tieto's Finnish ties and the former Enator's knowledge of the local authority sector have been deciding factors. Procapita will be adapted to Finnish local authority conditions and the objective is that TietoEnator's systems shall be market leaders in Finland in the same way as in Sweden. "This is the first concrete result within our area after the fusion between Tieto and Enator. The deal had not been possible without our colleagues at former Tieto", says Marja-Liisa Nordlund at TietoEnator. The deciding factor for the City of Helsinki was that Procapita is a modern product that is very expandable, for example, when traditional business systems are opened on the web. "The central requirements that we formulated for the system were that it must support guidance services, facilitate the drawing up of a business plan and help us to carry it out as well as performing follow-ups. Our evaluation showed that TietoEnator's total solution was the best, with regard to cost and function", says Marjatta Miettinen, responsible for the welfare department's IT project in the City of Helsinki. The first delivery will be in May 2001 and from January 2002 the system shall be in full production. The system requires a number of adaptations in order suit Finnish conditions at the same time, as a lot of customized development will be carried out.
