The Swedish Trade Union Confederation's IT prize goes to TietoEnator At the Swedish Trade Union Confederation's representative assembly meeting in Stockholm on 23 May, the chairman, Wanja Lundby-Wedin, presented "The users' prize" for the year's best IT solution from the users' perspective. This year the prize went to TietoEnator's system for operation planning, Optimera 2000. The solution has been produced in close collaboration with, among others, Oskarshamn's hospital that now will receive a prize sum of SEK 25000. The Swedish Trade Union Confederation motivates its decision by saying that Optimera 2000 gives excellent support to the medical staff in their work of solving complex planning problems. The staff at Oskarshamn's hospital has guided the development of the IT support which has meant an easily-used system with good interfaces. The result has been a better working environment and a better utilization of resources. In addition, the patients now have a shorter waiting time for operations. Optimera 2000 is today one of the most widespread IT systems for operation planning within the Swedish medical service. - Due to the fact that we have, for a long time, further developed the system in close collaboration with our users we have succeeded in producing a support that quickly contributes to improvements in the activities.
