TietoEnator acquires

TietoEnator acquires majority in Softema TietoEnator has entered an agreement on the transfer of Oy Softema Ab into its ownership. Softema produces insurance and special business applications. At the first stage, TietoEnator has acquired 60% of Softema shares. Softema is the leading supplier of life and pension insurance systems in Finland. The finance sector is one of TietoEnator's key businesses and this acquisition will significantly improve TietoEnator's expertise in the area of life insurance. Unit linked insurance is a fast growing business which increases demand for insurance systems and other information technology services. TietoEnator's objective is to develop client partnership activities together with Softema, particularly those based on new technologies and within a larger, pan-Nordic cooperation network. The sellers are Softema's owners who will retain 40% of the stock. Mr. Markku Hietamäki will continue as CEO and Board member. Softema employs 70 people and this year looks to net sales of approximately 5.5 million euro (FIM 33 million). The company's customers include Nordea, Sampo, GE- Vakuutus, Aurum and the Finnish State Treasury.
