TietoEnator and Etrem initiate co-operation to provide applications services for the energy industry TietoEnator and Etrem have signed a letter of intent to develop and market a new type of service concept. The Meter to Bill concept will include customer information, metering and balance clearance. In its most extensive form the service package, ranging from metering to electronic billing, is intended for energy, water supply, district heating and property management companies. The idea of the Meter to Bill concept is to free the customer's resources for its core activities. Thanks to this service, customers do not need to invest in systems and special expertise but will have immediate access to the latest technology and know-how. The services will be tailored to the needs of individual customers. Etrem will supply the metering and balance clearance services and TietoEnator the customer information and billing systems. System development, integration and maintenance are included in the overall service. In the future invoicing can be carried out electronically using a web or WAP solution. And in the near term, on-line service will be one of the main areas of development in the service concept. There is expected to be a market for this type of service among energy and utility companies that, in the face of intensifying competition, are increasingly outsourcing support services that require special expertise.
